Bribes, Kickbacks, Finder Fees - We don't do them! E-mail
Wednesday, 04 July 2007

Well, that’s not exactly true.  We don’t do them in the conventional manner – some of those newly evolving publishing services go after this questionable income as part of their profit pictures.  I’ve never figured out the kickback logic in agreeing to overpay for a service, only to have part of the overpayment coming back to payer.  To my way of thinking, it’s a much cleaner transaction to just pay a fair price for services rendered.

I dare say we have had inquiries from several professionals in the publishing community asking if we’d consider paying them a finder’s fee for their efforts in bringing new authors to Infinity.  We appreciate their interest, but, not to sound uppity, our publishing model and our excellent reputation has worked very well to attract an ever-increasing number of talented authors.  We also point out that if they feel so strongly that the unpublished book is a potential steady seller, then they can get involved with the author and help them to promote and market the book and they can share in the earned royalties.  With the author’s approval, we have the ability to split monthly royalties.

The best referral program is for Infinity authors to refer their author friends to publish with us.  We give both authors a $50 credit and they can use it as they wish. The soon-to-be-published author can use it towards our one-time setup fee, and the referring author can put it towards their next book purchase or deduct $50 from the setup fee for their next book.

I acknowledge that we do boldly bribe Infinity authors to attend our annual Authors’ Conference at Valley Forge.  Yes, we openly bribe them with copies of their Infinity-published books!!!  Infinity authors who register for our conference on or before July 15 will receive 15 copies of their book when they arrive at the hotel.  Infinity authors who register for the conference on or before August 15 will receive 10 copies of their book.  Those who register on or before September 15 will receive 5 copies of their book.

We have a vested interest in strongly encouraging our authors to attend our annual conference.  Authors who have attended our previous conferences sell more books because they have learned from the publicity and marketing experts more successful ways to effectively promote their books.  The bottom-line is we earn our profit from selling books.
