If you were self-publishing your book today, what would you do differently? E-mail

“I am publishing my book again today.  Previously I chose another book publisher to publish my book.  Before I signed on they provided wonderful customer service.  Once I became one of their authors they ignored me, missed EVERY deadline, were abusive when speaking to me, and cost me thousands of dollars by disrupting the launch of my business.  So now, I am publishing the same book again with Infinity Publishing.  I have found better pricing, excellent service, and a group of people who CARE about my book and me!”

“I would not do anything differently with the publishing. However, I would hire an editor.”

“I would rewrite it better and have it professionally edited because it was actually better than I thought it was and has been liked by all who have read it.  I never thought of myself as a writer...it just happened.”

“I would do nothing different as I am completely satisfied with the end result.  They did a better job  with the cover art and binding than most regular publishers.  Quality is top notch.”

“I will be publishing my sequel book mid-year in 2002. With this book I’m not even going to consider using a literary agent or a traditional publisher.  I will stay with Infinity Publishing.  I know the staff and feel like I have a ‘family of support.’  Imagine being able to pick up the phone and talk to your publisher!  It’s a great feeling.  It’s great to know my sequel book will be published within two months or less after I submit it!  I love being able to make changes or additions, such as the two pages of endorsements I was able to add or to update my photo.  And, I don’t have to deal with rejection letters!”

When You’re Seeing Red, STOP!

“When I first wrote my manuscript, I didn’t pay much attention to editing because I was under the belief that a [traditional] publishing house would have an editorial staff and therefore would take care of this for me. When I decided to use a POD publisher, I utilized a spell and grammar check on my word processing software. Unfortunately, many editing errors went unnoticed. I would have saved a lot of time had I invested in the services of a professional book editor before submitting my manuscript to my POD publisher, which by the way, I ended up doing anyway. Now I can feel confident that my work is clean, polished and highly presentable.”

“I would explore several POD publishers before making a decision on which one I would use.  That is exactly what I did with my second book now available from Infinity Publishing.”

DANGEROUS RELATIONSHIPS

“I don’t think there’s much I’d do differently.  I didn’t just jump into it without doing research first, and I made my choices as educated as possible.  I did my best.  It remains to be seen if it works out.  I take comfort in the fact that everyone who reads my books likes them.  One reader at a time—one book at a time.”
