Adding a book to our print on demand self-publishing system is very easy. Briefly, you complete our Publishing Agreement, pay a one-time setup fee for production services, and provide a copy of the complete book, properly formatted according to our publisher specifications, saved to a disk or CD in a single word processing file. Most popular word processing files can be converted into our print on demand system’s book file. Our production staff then checks your word processor book file to make sure it is complete and free of errors. Then it is formatted and converted into a digital print file and is entered into the system and proof copies are sent to you for a final approval.
In most cases, there are several types of corrections to be made to the first proof book. A second proof book is almost always necessary to get the book up to your standard of what it should be. Authors frequently see grammar and spelling problems pop right off the pages of their first proof books. This is perhaps due to the experience of seeing the work in book form for the first time.
Many authors use a computer word processing program—such as Microsoft Word—to compose their books. Some writers create a new file for each chapter or section of their book. We require that your book be compiled into one large word processing file that contains all the elements of the book from the first to the last page. We use no cookie-cutter templates and allow you to self-publish a book that is a unique and individual expression of your vision. Our instructions allow you to go as far as you wish when laying out your book. If you are an experienced computer user, you may specify many attributes of your layout. But if you are not, you may simply do the best you can, and allow us to pick up where you leave off. Either way, our highly trained production department will provide the attention to detail necessary to provide your first proof book with the aspects of professionalism required of a published book.
The word processing book file that you send to us is converted into a special digitized file, which our digital printer uses to print your book. The conversion process only works if the entire book is contained in one computer file—except for the cover. The book cover art is usually in a separate file that includes the front cover, spine, and back cover.
