Individualized Programs/Hourly Coaching/Developmental Editing
Many potential authors tell us they have a concept for a book but no idea where to go from there—or their book is nearly completed but they just can’t get it done. Some labor for years to start and then complete a manuscript, lacking the knowledge and skill to refine, develop and fine-tune their work. They might benefit from attending a prestigious writing program, but few have the time, and the costs of such programs can be prohibitive.
Book Genesis, a revolutionary Infinity Publishing writers’ coaching program designed exclusively for self-published authors, will take you step by step through the writing process to complete your book. Our coaches, graduates of the prestigious Iowa Writers’ Workshop and other top tier MFA writing programs, are published authors in their own right with years of editing, teaching and coaching experience. They won’t just edit your work; they will teach you to hone your craft so that you can develop and complete the book of your dreams, while learning valuable skills you can apply to future books.
The best part is that you will have a hand to hold through the entire process, so you won’t procrastinate. In just a few months you will learn the basics of professional writing, including: how to explore, develop and refine your concept; how to build an advanced outline from scratch; what it takes to create compelling characters and plot lines; the art of pacing; how to develop a narrative voice for a particular audience and genre; and much more. Whether you are writing fiction, non-fiction, or a personal memoir, your Book Genesis™ writing coach will guide you every step of the way.
Working From the Skeleton Out
Your experienced writing coach will help you create your manuscript from the skeleton out. First, you will develop the bones, including a detailed outline, using clear perspective and a strong narrative voice and a structure that is engaging, paced, and organized. Next you will flesh out your manuscript with "the story", aided by broad edits from your coach that will become more detailed as the manuscript develops. The result is a polished, edited manuscript that conveys your message in the strongest way possible.
From Concept to Manuscript
Your experienced writing coach will help you create a manuscript from concept to completion. First, you will discuss, clarify and concretize your writing goals. Every couple of weeks you will send your coach a set number of pages for review, and your coach will respond with suggestions for how to improve them. Several pages of your writing will receive a line-by-line analysis, with your coach pointing out recurring issues and providing suggested changes. You and your coach will continue this form of communication and evaluation until the writing process is complete. The result is an artfully crafted manuscript that reflects your unique voice and style.
